Incredible television often finds me this way. A rapid scroll through the EPG, and a couple of programmes catch my attention. They’re not my ‘appointment’ shows (the magic box picks those up on series record); these are just broadcasts that look reasonably interesting. I’ll pick one, and once in a while, I’ll catch something good.
However, a casual selection on Wednesday night produced an extraordinary experience: a documentary so vivid, compelling and visceral, I will never forget it. It was called ‘This World: Terror At The Mall’ (BBC2, 9.00pm). The title is rather sensationalist, which is odd, because the content was anything but.
